Speech to text: online dictation
Pick a language, click start and speak. Your words appear as text that you can edit, copy or download.
Note: speech recognition is provided by your browser. Chrome and Edge send the audio to their own speech service (Google/Microsoft) to convert it; we never receive it.
How to use it
- Choose the language you will speak.
- Click “Start dictation”, allow microphone access and speak clearly.
- Edit the text, then copy it or download it as a .txt file.

Frequently asked questions
Which browsers work?
Chrome, Edge and Safari support speech recognition. Firefox currently does not.
Can I dictate punctuation?
Partly – many browsers understand “comma”, “full stop” or “new line” in the chosen language; you can also edit the text afterwards.
Is my audio stored?
We never receive it. The browser's speech service converts it; check your browser's privacy policy for details.
