Frequently asked questions
How do I add VAT to a price?
Multiply the net price by (1 + rate). Example: £100 net at 20% = £100 × 1.20 = £120 gross.
How do I remove VAT from a price?
Divide the gross price by (1 + rate). Example: £120 gross at 20% = £120 ÷ 1.20 = £100 net, so the VAT is £20. Simply taking 20% off £120 would be wrong.
Are the rates up to date?
The presets reflect the standard rates as published for 2026. Rates change and many goods have reduced rates – check your tax authority for your case. This is not tax advice.
