Spindle speed & feed calculator
Enter the cutting speed and the tool (or workpiece) diameter. For milling add the feed per tooth and number of teeth to get the feed rate.
🔒 Runs entirely in your browser – nothing you enter is uploaded or stored.
How to use it
- Enter cutting speed and diameter.
- Optionally enter feed per tooth and number of teeth for milling.
- Set the machine to the nearest available speed and check the resulting cutting speed.

Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate the spindle speed?
n = vc × 1000 ÷ (π × d). Example: vc 25 m/min, 10 mm drill → about 796 rpm.
What is the difference between feed per tooth and feed rate?
Feed per tooth fz is the chip thickness per cutting edge; the feed rate vf = n × fz × z is the table speed in mm/min.
Where do I find the right cutting speed?
In the tool manufacturer's catalogue – it depends on tool material, coating, workpiece material and cooling.
