Password strength checker
Type a password to see how strong it is. The check runs only in your browser – nothing is sent or stored. Still, don't type a password you use for important accounts on any website.
A password manager creates and stores a strong, unique password for every account. See our comparison of the best password managers.

Frequently asked questions
Is it safe to type my password here?
The check runs entirely in your browser and nothing is transmitted. As a general rule, though, never type passwords of important accounts into websites – test a similar pattern instead.
What makes a password strong?
Above all length and randomness. A random passphrase of 4–5 words or 16 random characters is very hard to crack.
How is the cracking time estimated?
From the entropy, assuming an attacker who can try about 10 billion guesses per second offline. Real attacks on common or reused passwords are much faster.
