Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between mean and median?
The mean adds everything and divides by the count; the median is the middle value and is less affected by outliers.
How is a weighted average calculated?
Sum of (value × weight) ÷ sum of weights. Grades 2 (weight 2) and 3 (weight 1) give (4 + 3) ÷ 3 = 2.33.
Which standard deviation is shown?
The sample standard deviation (divided by n − 1).
